Things You Probably Didn't Know About Professional LPG Fitters

LPG or liquefied petroleum gas fuel system in cars utilize LPG as a fuel for the internal combustion engine. Thus, LPG used in cars is also called autogas. People living in the area of Melbourne who wants to get their cars converted to run on propane should enlist the services of expert LPG fitters. Professionals are required for LPG fuel system installation because faulty installation can lead to a number of safety issues.

The Different Parts That Are Installed By The LPG Fitters In The Cars Have Been Listed Here:

#1 Propane Tank

Propane tank can be installed either in the trunk of the car or at the bottom. Torpedo propane tanks are large in size with more fuel capacity. Thus, they need more space in the car. Donut tanks are smaller sized tanks which can be installed in the space for the spare tire in the car. Big cars can also be fitted with many tanks to enhance their capacity.

#2 Fuel Lines

These are flexible copper tubes which attach the tank to the engine. The fuel lines pass through the fill point and go all the way to the engine through the underside of the car. Fuel point is drilled into the car’s body either at the back of the trunk or near the gasoline fill point. Checking of fuel lines must be done by experts to ensure that the LPG fitting is done without leaving any remnant of gas in the environment.

#3 LPG Solenoid Valve

LPG Solenoid Valve is fitted between the tank and the engine on the fuel line. This valve serves to stop the flow of LPG to the engine when it is either shut off or running on gasoline. The valve also has an inbuilt filter that eliminates any kind of contamination that may be present in the fuel.

#4 Regulator

Regulator vaporizes propane into gas by using the heat generated by the car’s cooling fluids. The regulator also has an electronic device which prevents the flow of propane gas if the engine stops working. The regulator is smaller in size than a conventional carburetor.

#5 Mixer

A mixer is fitted in the intake manifold. This component controls the amount of gas that is fed to the cylinders according to the instructions received from the car’s sensors.

#6 Emulator

Cars with electronic fuel injection systems require emulators. This is because the fuel injectors in such a car stop sending signals to the sensors when the car runs on LPG thereby resulting in incorrect readings on the car dashboard such as the activation of “check engine” lights. The emulator emulates the signals for the proper functioning of the ECU.

Other parts of an LPG fuel system include lambda, gas-tight box, gas adjuster, gas switch, multivalve, filler valve, and mixer. The LPG fitters in install the system in accordance with the regulations of the Melbourne Board for proper assembling and other local regulations in. The strength of the high-pressure parts is tested by hydraulic methods. The LPG fitters in also offer repair and regular servicing of the various parts of LPG fuel systems.

Advantages of LPG Auto Gas

  1. LPG provides more than 50% savings in the price of fuel as compared to petrol. The consequent 10-12% decrease in mileage is offset by the significant savings.
  2. LPG fuel system produces much fewer emissions than petrol which makes it environment-friendly.
  3. LPG fuel tank adds 400-500 extra kilometers to the car’s capacity.
  4. The LPG kits have various safety devices and the components match the international standards. Thus, LPG fuel system is safe to use.
Finally, before the installation of the LPG, one should know that LPG does not leave carbon residue which preserves the properties of the engine oil and helps in reducing wear and tear of the engine.
