5 Important Guidelines for Kitchen Cabinets Installation

  1. Removing the old cabinets: - In order to install new kitchen cabinets, you need to unmount the old cabinets properly so that you don’t damage the walls. Search and locate all the nails and screws attached to old cabinets and then pull them all out. Clean the walls and make it ready for the new cabinets. If you’re doing it for the first time, then you must be extra careful. Go in order and do not run out of patience.
  2. Measure the wall: - Once you've cleared the walls, measure it and mark how big the cabinets you require. Mark the spots where the screws are to place. It also helps you to install the cabinets properly on an equal level. Draw horizontal lines marking the lower ends of the kitchen cabinets. Find the wall studs to support the cabinets.
  3. Provide a temporary support: - The kitchen cabinets are usually heavy and needs a base support during the installation process. You need to fix a supporting plank below the horizontal line you drew attaching to the walls to give a temporary base support the cabinets. Don’t remove the support until all the screws and nails are punched in to make sure that the cabinets are fixed intact to the walls. Remove the doors of the cabinets while installation to keep the weight lowers. It makes the installation process quite efficient.
  4. Plan the cabinets defining the purpose: - It is very important to classify the cabinets while installation so that all the purposes are covered including the microwave outlet, space for the chimney, electrical appliances, water purifier cabinets etc. This avoids further requirements of replacements or modification as it specifies a place for every available thing in the kitchen. Short heighted cabinets are good for small kitchens, while you can use large kitchen cabinets with additional drawers and emergency storage arrangements, if you have a large and spacious kitchen.
  5. Install the valence cabinet: - Valence cabinet is an empty chamber which is built just over the sink adjoining the two cabinets. This can also be used a rack to keep the wet utensil by attaching the dish holder and removing the base.  Drill and screw them tightly to fix them in their desired position.

But, it is a better choice to go with a professional as their work would mark more precision and care. The right fitting, nailing the cabinet, hanging or installing it depends on how well you choose a professional for the task. Also, steel and iron kitchen cabinets are heavier, whereas aluminum and plywood cabinets are lighter. So, the installation process of the kitchen cabinet can be arranged accordingly.
